At OneRiot, we care a lot about your privacy. It's important to us that you understand exactly how OneRiot operates its services and how that might relate to your privacy. This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") applies to all of our products and services. In addition, we have posted an Add-on Privacy Policy (below) to cover more specific information pertaining to all of our Add-on products and services.
Our search results are based upon OneRiot's own opt-in program, where users help contribute to our data set. We have a range of "social add-ons" for your web browser which users download and opt to share information about the websites they visit as they surf the web anonymously. We combine the anonymous data, index it, and offer it up through our search engine interface. Since we launched our first add-on in August 2007, millions of users have opted into the program and share information with us. This is a significant number - which is why our search results are so good. Of course, you can still use the OneRiot search engine without downloading an Add-on or sharing visited website information of any kind. You do not need to register for an account or provide any personal information to use OneRiot search.
Information collected online can generally be categorized as either non-personal information or personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information is information you provide to us that is uniquely associated with you, such as your name or email address.
We do not associate any non-personal information we collect from you, including your search queries and IP address, with the personally identifiable information that you may submit to us. For this reason, we do not consider your IP address to be personally identifiable information.

We may provide your personal information to third party service providers and suppliers who provide services to us or for us. However, these service providers and suppliers do not have any independent right to use or disclose this information except to help us provide the Service. We may provide information relating to your search requests to a third party service provider or partner in order to help fulfill your search request.
We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information, such as the number of OneRiot users who searched for a particular term, for example. Furthermore, OneRiot may use your personal information without your prior consent when we have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce our Terms of Use, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of OneRiot, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.

Add-on Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 10, 2008
The OneRiot Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information when you use OneRiot's products and services, including information provided when you use OneRiot Add-ons. The following describes our privacy practices that are specific to Oneriot Add-ons ("Add-on Privacy Policy").
Information we collect
You do not need to provide any personally identifying information in order to download and use any OneRiot Add-on. All features can be used without sharing any personally identifying information.
OneRiot Add-ons have some basic features that work automatically any time you use them while other features are optional, and only operate and transmit data if you choose to enable them.
Basic Features:
- All OneRiot Add-ons include an anonymous and unique ID number that is required for your Add-on to function properly.
- When you install or uninstall any OneRiot Add-on, the ID number and a message indicating whether the operation succeeded are sent to OneRiot.
- OneRiot Add-ons periodically contact our servers to request automatic updates to the latest version, and as part of this request sends the unique ID number.
- If you use a OneRiot Add-on to send a search query to OneRiot, we collect the keyword search query and the ID number linked to your Add-on. This data is retained in OneRiot's server logs and is protected according to our general Privacy Policy.
Optional Features:
- OneRiot Add-ons provide the option to share your Clickstream ("Clickstream") data with us to help improve search. We combine the anonymous Clickstreams from all users who are opting to share their web surfing data to create a pool of information about what websites real people are visiting into our index.
- Clickstream data includes the URLs you visit and may also include your use of browser tabs, dwell time, scrolling, bookmarking and other meta-data about the URLs you visit. Clickstream data is not connected to personally identifiable information.
- If you have opted to share your Clickstream data, the anonymous ID number assigned to your Add-on is associated with your Clickstream data. If you decide not to share or have temporarily turned sharing off, no Clickstream data is sent to OneRiot.
- Any secure site you visit will automatically shut off the sharing of Clickstream data. A message is sent to us that sharing has been suspended and no further Clickstream data is shared until you visit a non-secure site.
Use of Information
We process your shared information to provide and improve our search services and to improve our Add-ons. For example, our Pulse Checker toolbar displays whether a URL you're visiting is a hot site according to our index.
Your Choices Regarding Your Data
Any Add-on feature that automatically sends your Clickstream data about sites you visit can be disabled and re-enabled.
If you decide to stop sharing your Clickstream with us, we will no longer include your Clickstream in our index. Please note that we will retain Clickstream data you shared with us prior to the date you decided to stop sharing it with us in our archives.
Information Security
Any information sent to OneRiot will be maintained in accordance with the OneRiot Privacy Policy. Any information you send to third party sites is not covered by our policy.
